Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga is an American singer-songwriter, performance artist and actress, known for her flamboyant costumes. She was born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta on March 28, 1986, in New York City, New York, U.S. Her adopted stage name is derived from Queen’s song “Radio Ga Ga.”

Lady Gaga's debut album, The Fame, was released in 2008. The Fame was well received critically and proved enormously successful commercially, selling more than eight million copies worldwide by the end of 2009.

Lady Gaga's third album, Born This Way, was released in 2011. The title track was a self-empowerment anthem in the style of Madonna’s 1989 single Express Yourself.

Lady Gaga was in the fifth season of the television show American Horror Story: Hotel (2015–16). She played the role of a vampiric countess with no regard for life or suffering. For her performance in the anthology series, Lady Gaga received a Golden Globe Award. She also appeared in the sixth season, which aired in 2016.

Lady Gaga garnered an Oscar nomination for her lead role in the 2018 remake of the movie A Star Is Born where she played a guileless up-and-coming singer-songwriter opposite costar and director Bradley Cooper. Lady Gaga cowrote most of the movie’s songs, including “Shallow,” which won two Grammy Awards and the Oscar for best original song.
